Quakers up next as Aycliffe prepare for new season
Newton Aycliffe FC play host to Darlington next Tuesday evening (22nd July KO 7:30pm) in their latest preseason friendly. The Quakers’ visit comes as Aycliffe intensify their preparations for the new season. The first league game will be played on Saturday 9th August, with fixtures due out this week,
Aycliffe have played two games so far – an excellent 2-1 win over Stockton Town and a goalless draw at Northallerton Town.
Brian Atkinson has been building a new squad for the season ahead, with defender Jonny White and central midfielder Ben Pentland the latest to join the ranks at the Ashcourt Stadium. White previously played for Nottinghamshire side Basford Utd while Pentland arrives from Blyth Spartans.
Aycliffe have announced an additional friendly fixture – with Hebburn Town visiting Moore Lane on Friday 1st August. It will be a return for former Aycliffe skipper Ethan Wood who joined Step 3 side Hebburn in the summer.
