A talented young footballer from Newton Aycliffe is preparing for the opportunity of a lifetime after being selected to represent her club at this year’s prestigious Club World Cup in China.
Ebony Newman has been part of the footballing community in Newton Aycliffe for almost as long as she can remember. Starting out with Newton Aycliffe Youth Football Club’s Wildcats programme as a young child, she has progressed through every stage of the club’s pathway, developing her skills, determination and passion for the game.
Her talent and dedication saw her rise through the age groups before earning a place in the club’s women’s team. From there, Ebony’s impressive performances attracted attention, leading to an opportunity with Park View Football Academy in Chester-le-Street, where she continues to go from strength to strength.
An exciting and skilful forward, Ebony has thrilled supporters with her pace, creativity and eye for goal. Her performances have now earned her selection to represent Park View Football Academy at the Club World Cup, which takes place in China this October.
The tournament will bring together talented young players from around the world, providing Ebony with the chance to compete on an international stage, gain invaluable experience and proudly represent both her club and the North East.
While being selected is a tremendous achievement, players are required to fund the trip themselves, meaning the costs of travel, accommodation and tournament participation must be met by the individual and their family.
