Organisers say they are on course for another successful golf day and are appealing for more players to tee-off for charity.

The golf day in aid of St Teresa’s Hospice will be staged on Friday 2 September and is expected to take the total raised by the annual event over 20 years to more than £250,000.

The popular event will be held at Blackwell Grange Golf Club, Darlington, and limited places are still available for teams wishing to participate.

Hospice communications and marketing manager John Paul Stabler said: “We’re pleased to be continuing this popular event, building on the hard work put in by previous organisers Landteam and Heritage Healthcare.

“The golf day is a fantastic opportunity for businesses to support St Teresa’s Hospice and have a lot of fun on the course. There will be fundraising competitions on the course, a presentation evening with team prizes being awarded, a raffle draw and an auction with many fabulous prizes, so come and play a round to raise funds in aid of your local hospice!”

St Teresa’s Hospice needs to raise £3m a year to provide free inpatient and community care for people living with life-limiting illnesses and their families in Darlington, South Durham and North Yorkshire.

This year’s event will see players challenge the 2021 winners “The Cobbler’s”, captained by Charles Clinkard, for the Charity Golf Cup. An 18 hole Stableford tournament, it will also include prizes for nearest the pin and longest drive.

Entry costs of £295 for a team of four include a team photo, breakfast roll on arrival, followed by a one course meal after the game.

The cost to sponsor a tee is £170 for which each business will receive representation on the course and in the programme on the day.
