Dear Sir,

I have lived in Oakfield for 19 years and it has always been a lovely street to live in, recently someone has been continually dumping rubbish by the trees. I don’t understand the need to do this, it stays there for days, even weeks sometimes, and just makes the place look untidy.

There have been many different items including what looks like a full bucket of cigarette ends – which is very unpleasant. I am normally not one to complain, but this is starting to become more often and is unnecessary, as most people have space in the garden or on the front/back where it could be left until collected, or till they can move it themselves.

Thank you to Newton News for the opportunity to respond to the above letter.

As with all fly tipping it is unnecessary, unacceptable and a blight on the environment, culminating in resident complaints and Council tax payers picking up the extra cost.

After earlier discussions with some Oakfield residents Cllr. Martin Ashcroft and I have already narrowed down the culprits to a single property, but are frustrated in that local residents are not prepared to come forward to formally identify the person.

However, we would like to reassure residents that the waste will be removed before the end of the week, and the Council Wardens will endeavour to take the necessary action against the person responsible.
