The 16th annual Model Railway Exhibition, organised by Rotary Great Aycliffe, has once again proven to be a resounding success – raising a total of £1800 in support of local charitable causes.
A key portion of the proceeds, £600, was dedicated to supporting three vital local hospices: Butterwick Hospice Care, St. Teresa’s Hospice, and St. Cuthbert’s Hospice. These organisations provide essential care and support to individuals and families across the region, making the contribution especially meaningful.
On Wednesday 22nd April, Rotary Great Aycliffe Senior Vice President, Malcolm Masterman, personally delivered the cheques during a whirlwind tour of South West Durham, visiting each hospice to present the donations in person.
Reflecting on the day, Malcolm said: “That has been one of the most satisfying days of all my years in Rotary.”
Representatives from each of the hospices expressed their sincere gratitude for the donations, emphasising how much the support means to their ongoing work. They also asked for their heartfelt thanks to be passed on to all Rotary members and everyone involved in making the exhibition such a success.
The continued success of the Model Railway Exhibition highlights both the generosity of the local community and the dedication of Rotary volunteers, whose efforts help make a real difference to important local services year after year.
