Dear Sir,
My wife, Anne, rang me to pick her up after her hairdressing appointment in Greenwell Road. As I came round the court house corner I noticed my wife was laid on the ground with three people around her – it was approximately 12.30pm.
I was informed that Anne had fallen and hit her head. One of those present rang 999, the others were attempting to keep my wife warm and comfortable as it was freezing with a cold wind. I contacted our daughter who came to our aid and stayed with us.
Natasha, who works at the court house and is a first aider, checked her over and put foil blankets over her, the van driver who was present made a wind shield from items in his van.
Becky continued to talk to the ambulance service, after 45 minutes I dialled 999 again. After 90 minutes a few people came from the fire station and checked Anne over and fetched a ground sheet and blankets as she was laid on her back on cold tarmac.
The firemen rolled Anne to one side and tried to contact the ambulance service again.
At approximately 3pm the firemen said that Anne had been on the floor long enough and lifted her into our car, my daughter and I took her to hospital. If we had not taken her, how long would we have waited? I would like an answer.
I would like to offer my thanks to Becky, Dave, Paul, Natasha and the firemen who offered their help and support.
Mr Sangster
