Cruse Bereavement Support is appealing for people across Teesside, Darlington and County Durham to volunteer for a few hours a week to support people in the community who are struggling to cope after the death of a loved one.
Cruse works at a local and national level supporting adults, children and young people who have been bereaved. Support may be provided on a one-to-one basis or within groups, mainly on the telephone or online via video call.
Cruse North-East relies heavily on the dedication and hard work of its volunteers to deliver this worthwhile and vital service. All volunteers receive nationally recognised, high-quality training and receive regular support from a supervisor.
Tracy Shutt, Head of Services – North, said: “The death of a loved one can be devastating. Cruse is here to support adults, children and young people who are struggling to cope after a close bereavement.
“We are urgently looking for people who are compassionate and like helping other people to join our team of bereavement volunteers. Being a volunteer is incredibly rewarding and we could not do the vital work we do without them.”
