The Neighbourhood, Response and Crime teams working out of Newton Aycliffe have been busy responding to a variety of incidents across the area over the past week, including Concerns for Safety, Missing Persons, Shoplifting, Domestic Incidents and Harassment. Below is a brief overview of what we have been up to:
Enquiries are ongoing after a report of a stolen quad bike from a local farm on Monday morning. This remains under investigation. Enquiries are also ongoing after a report of criminal damage was reported to a property in Langdale Place.
On Tuesday, PCSO Nichols attended the Shopwatch meeting in the town centre, where she met with representatives from the local shops to discuss issues and problem solving around this.
On Tuesday evening, response officers responded to a report of a vulnerable female whose relatives were concerned about. Response officers quickly located the female and returned her to her home address and signposted her to the right agencies to get her some support.
On Wednesday, PC Booth began investigating a report of a vehicle fire which was reported in the early hours. Enquiries are ongoing in relation to a report of suspicious activity in the area of Matthew Close in the early hours of Thursday morning, where three males were seen trying garage doors.
On Thursday, Inspector Honeyman and Sergeant Boyd had a meeting with local MP Paul Howell. Numerous topics were discussed, including Business PACT on the Business Park, issues being faced around sentencing at Magistrates Courts and an upcoming Road Safety Initiative which will be held around our local schools in May.
On Friday, PCSO’s Todd and Kipling were at Greenfield School for the latest youth club, designed to engage with our local youths, and diverting them away from causing Anti-Social Behaviour.
On Friday night, two people were arrested after an incident at The Big Club and transported to custody. Both have been bailed pending further enquiries.
Also on Friday, a male was cautioned for causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.
Officers have been out and about over the course of the weekend focusing on Anti-Social Behaviour hotspots, engaging with local shops, residents and youths in the process.
