Newton Aycliffe’s next game at the Ashcourt Group Stadium is Tuesday 7th October when they entertain Redcar Athletic. In the meantime, the Newtonians make the short trip to Consett on Saturday 4th October, before travelling to Silsden on 11th October.
September 20th – Heaton Stannington 4 v Newton Aycliffe 0
A disappointing FA Trophy result, in poor conditions, as Heaton Stannington scored two goals either side of half time. Ben Milburn got Stan’s first with a header scored from a corner in the 20th minute. Leighton Hopper got the second in the 33rd minute after Aycliffe allowed the away side too many passes in their half. The second half, Connor Walker assisted Hopper to get his second in the 60th minute. Substitute Konner Lamb made it 4-0 in the closing stages with a chip effort.
September 27th – Newton Aycliffe 0 v Ossett United 1
A poor game for the neutral saw Aycliffe occupy 18th before the match and finish the day in 20th. The first, and only, goal of the game came within the 5th minute when Joseph Crosby capitalised on a defensive mistake. One of Aycliffe’s first chances came from Brennan Fitzpatrick, but Ossett’s keeper, Petrovic, easily dealt with it. Ossett almost found a second in the 35th minute, but Rhys Thomas, who was seemingly in the perfect position to tap it in somehow, sent the ball very wide and it hit the post. In the 41st minute Aycliffe nearly found a way into the game, but the headed ball went wide. The early part of the second half saw very little in the way of chances for both sides, Aycliffe were the more inclined to go forwards, but Ossett stifled a majority of their attempts. Thomas, again for Ossett, had two late chances, in the 81st and the 92nd respectively. The first of which was cut out by Aycliffe defenders and the second was dealt with by Kyle Seymour.
