Woodham Burn Primary School welcomed a special visitor as local MP, Alan Strickland, visited to meet with the School Council. The visit held personal significance, as it marked a return to the school 23 years after the MP first spent time there on a work experience placement.
The pupils began with thoughtful questions and creative ideas on how to improve their school and their local community. The MP praised the council for their commitment to improving the lives of their fellow pupils and their creativity for designing new ways to communicate such as their brilliant podcast. Reflecting on the occasion, the MP described it as “a brilliant experience” and expressed gratitude for the warm welcome from staff and pupils.
The visit underlined the importance of giving young people a voice in shaping their education and community, with Woodham Burn Primary continuing to shine as a place where children can express themselves.
