Students in Year 9 at Woodham Academy took part in a PSHE day on Thursday 5th March which was themed around the topic of ‘Keeping Safe’. The students undertook a series of workshops which allowed them opportunities to explore sensitive issues and devise strategies to keep themselves and others safe. Issues included E Safety, abusive relationships, self- harm and legal and illegal drug consumption.
All sessions were led by experts and the event was supported by a variety of services including the Youth Centre, Harbour, If U Care Share and One Point.
“It is always a positive experience working with young people to raise awareness of our work. This is an issue very close to our heart and we are keen to spread the message across young people in County Durham so that they are aware of how they can access the support out there in the community”, said Allison Younger from If U Care Share Foundation.
