Darlington Operatic Society is set to stage the family favourite musical ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ in a vibrant new production at Darlington Hippodrome from 22nd April to 2nd May. This follows the company’s successful run of Come From Away last October.
The production features a talented local cast, with Samantha Morrison and Katie Spencer sharing the role of the Narrator and Ben Connor starring as Joseph. They are joined by a large supporting cast and ensemble, alongside two teams of young performers who will appear on alternate performances.
Chair Eddie Taylor-Jones said the show celebrates creativity, community, and the magic of live theatre, highlighting Joseph’s story of hope, resilience, and joy. The production is directed and choreographed by Joanne Hand, known for previous large-scale shows with the company, and features a live 15-piece band led by Paul Walker.
Originally released as a concept album in 1969, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has become one of the world’s most beloved musicals, performed internationally.
Told entirely through song, the musical follows Joseph, his jealous brothers, and his journey from betrayal to becoming Pharaoh’s trusted advisor in Egypt, before ultimately reuniting with his family.
The show runs from 22nd April to 2nd May, with tickets available through Darlington Operatic Society.
