Sunday 14th December saw the 300th episode of Mike Dixon’s Jazz Time on Aycliffe Radio; a programme which has broadcast on Sundays from 6.30-8pm,repeated Tuesdays 8-9.30pm.
The programme is appreciated by the jazz fraternity in the North East and, being online, also has listeners around the world. It provides an opportunity for jazz fans to make their requests, listen to jazz chat with local musicians, recall the big jazz greats, preview new releases, as well as learn about the jazz events coming up in the North East.
The programme is especially appreciated by older jazz fans who are not able to attend gigs. We send our condolences to the family of Brian, who recently died, a jazz fan from Barnard Castle, who eagerly looked forward to the programme, which brought a new dimension to his life; whilst Peter, a regular listener, living in Colorado Springs, finds the programme keeps him in touch with his beloved jazz and native North East.
So, if you are a jazz fan who have not yet connected or if jazz is your thing, let’s have those requests and jazz memories.
Mike Dixon, Aycliffe Radio.
