Easter fun had arrived in Aycliffe and Beveridge Way came alive with excitement on Saturday 4th April. Families poured into the town centre, drawn by the promise of a free day filled with laughter, colour and celebration.
From late morning the cheerful sounds of children echoed around the petting zoo, where little ones eagerly met gentle animals between 11.30am and 3.30pm. Nearby, faces were transformed into butterflies, tigers and superheroes at the face painting stall, each child beaming with pride at their new look.
The fairground rides spun and bounced, filling the air with delighted screams, while the craft fair buzzed with creativity as visitors browsed the handmade treasures and treats. Music drifted through the mall adding to the lively atmosphere and giving the whole event a festive rhythm.
At the heart of the celebration, Aycliffe Radio presenters kept the energy high, playing a mix of feel-good tunes that had families tapping their feet. The music took on an extra special meaning as songs performed by talented local children from the ‘Sing It’ Vocal Academy filled the air drawing proud smiles and applause from the crowd.
Meanwhile, the Easter Bunny made a magical appearance, greeting children and handing out free Easter eggs to those under 12. Excited queues formed as families waited for their turn to meet the fluffy guest of honour (unfortunately, some missed out, as all 500 eggs were given away by 2.30pm).
By the time the main event finished Beveridge Way had become a vibrant hub of joy and togetherness. It was a day full of simple pleasures, where the community came together to celebrate Easter with smiles, laughter, music and unforgettable moments.
