‘Dancing My Way’ with Sacred Sounds CIC
www.sacredsoundscic.co.uk
Dancing My Way is Braena’s inclusive dance, music, health and wellbeing initiative that addresses social isolation among people aged 50 and above.
Spanning October to December 2025 the project offers weekly movement and music-based sessions, inspired by the seasons, at Woodham Community Centre, Newton Aycliffe, led by dance artist Tracey West and musician Mark Barfoot in collaboration with local communities.
Sessions will include a fun dance, gentle seated movement practice and choreography with live music, featuring African drums, handpans and sound healing instruments for relaxation. The event will also include social time.
Sharing dance with live music, joy, belonging, vitality and creativity, while nurturing connections, providing inspiration and celebrating together. Sacred Sounds CIC offers inclusive, interdisciplinary sessions that honour the lived experiences of older adults, celebrating the transformative power of dance, music and sound bathing.
The project addresses issues including bereavement, trauma, mental health and the cost-of-living crisis – supporting wellbeing, confidence and community cohesion.
