Murtek has been named Company of the Year at the prestigious Make Your Mark Awards, a significant achievement for the North East-based IT and cybersecurity specialist as it celebrates 19 years in business.
The award follows Murtek’s Small Business of the Year success in 2024 and recognises the company’s continued growth, innovation and commitment to supporting businesses across the region and beyond.
Founded in 2007 by Managing Director Stuart Murray, Murtek began as a provider of IT support for small businesses. Over the years, the company has evolved into a trusted partner for IT, cybersecurity, connectivity and digital resilience services, helping organisations navigate an increasingly complex technology landscape.
Speaking after receiving the award, Stuart said: “Winning Small Business of the Year last year was amazing, but this is a real step up for us. We honestly didn’t expect to win, especially considering the quality of the businesses we were up against.”
Despite the company’s growth to a team of 12, Stuart believes Murtek’s success has been built on staying true to its core values.
“We’ve never wanted to take over the world,” he said. “We’ve always wanted to do a good job for people, provide a great service at a fair price, and build long-term relationships based on trust.”
