Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club’s 1st team, sponsored by Franks the Flooring Store, put in an excellent all round performance to beat Bedale 1st XI at home by 89 runs in the NYSD 2nd division. Electing to bat first, Aycliffe were all out for 202 on the last ball of their allotted 50 overs. Adam Gittins (sponsored by Jack and Jake Connors) continued his scintillating form with his fourth half century of the season, this time reaching a seasonal best 75 off 127 balls and his innings included eleven boundaries. Captain Adam Randall also batted well scoring 40 and other useful contributions came from Chris Palmer (17 runs) and Ryan Patrick (15 runs). In reply, the visitors were bowled out for 113 after 32.5 overs thanks to some fine bowling from James Layfield-Carroll (4 for 20) and Michael Howe (3 for 33). Special mention must go to Aycliffe opening bowler Jack Slatcher who became only the sixth bowler to take 300 senior wickets for Aycliffe when he dismissed Bedale’s number 3 batsman, finishing the game with figures of 1 for 29.

The second team notched up their 2nd consecutive 25 point victory when they beat Blackhall 2nd XI away by 66 runs in their NYSD 4th division clash. After choosing to bat first, Aycliffe were bowled out for 166 after 38.4 overs, thanks to good innings from Kyle Robinson (sponsored by Star Recruitment), who top scored with 41 runs, Owen Smith (30 runs), Sean Morgan (27 runs) and Joe Teasdale (19 runs). In reply some tight bowling from Leo Mercy (3 for 17), Dan Weldon (2 for 11) and Thomas Dearden (2 for 22) helped to dismiss the homeside for 100 after 37 overs.

The u13’s finished their season with a comprehensive win by 61 runs away at Darlington in the NYACC League. Electing to bat first, Aycliffe scored a very impressive 119 for 2 in their allotted 18 overs thanks to excellent innings from Leo Stout and Harrison Pearson, who both retired after scoring 31 runs each and credit must also go to Adam Shaw (15 runs) and Dan Heaton (11 not out) who both also batted well for the visitors.In reply, Darlington were restricted to just 58 for 5 in their allotted overs with captain Thomas Dearden the pick of the Aycliffe bowlers taking 2 for 4 and he received good support from younger brother Will and Leo Stout, who each took a wicket.
