We are Akrovasia Display Team, a competitive acrobatic gymnastics display team based at Athena Sports Academy, here in Newton Aycliffe.
We would like to share a recent achievement that we are incredibly proud of and would love to have recognised and shared within our local community.
Our team recently travelled to the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom to compete with our Moulin Rouge-themed musical display routine. We are delighted to have achieved 1st Place Overall in the Senior category, as well as receiving the Entertainment Award for our performance.
Our Moulin Rouge Musical routine combines acrobatic gymnastics, choreography, theatrical performance (following the story) and entertainment, with the aim of creating a spectacular performance for both the judges and audience.
This achievement is a huge accomplishment for our athletes and coaching team and is something we are extremely proud to have achieved while representing Athena Sports Academy, Newton Aycliffe and the North East.
