At just 26 years old, Newton Aycliffe’s Abbie Griffiths has proven that determination and passion can shine through even the toughest challenges. After being diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) in July 2023, Abbie faced daily struggles with her health. But instead of letting her diagnosis define her, she channelled her energy into a newfound passion – makeup artistry.
What began as a creative outlet soon grew into a successful career and this month, Abbie’s talent was recognised on a national stage. At the prestigious Glamour Awards, held at The Midland Hotel in Manchester on 12th October 2025, she was nominated in two categories and proudly took home 1st place for the Best Full Glam Award. Abbie hopes her story will inspire others living with chronic illness or hidden disabilities to keep pushing forward and to believe in what’s possible.
“Your condition doesn’t define your potential,” she says. “Never stop believing and never give up on your dreams.” Through her artistry, Abbie continues to use her platform to raise awareness of invisible illnesses and to empower others to follow their passions – no matter the obstacles.
