Preparations nearly completed, by all our teams, ready for the league start over the weekend 5th/6th September. Our new teams have attended tournaments and played lots of friendlies.
Here are some of our recent highlights:
Under 9 Wildcats (photo)
The girls travelled to Newcastle for the Pro-Motive Cup, and they were outstanding from start to finish. There were five teams, of which three were from a higher level than our girls, but we still reached the final, winning 1-0, with the winner from Lydia, to bring the trophy back to Aycliffe. The whole team raised their game throughout the tournament. Holly in goal with some outstanding saves, Daisy, the captain, solid in defence and scored a well-deserved goal. Emily playing out on the wing was unlucky not to score. Ayla pressed high and winning numerous tackles, Lydia scoring three goals and the winner in the final, Chloe was player of the tournament scoring three goals, including one from her own half. Well done girls and a great springboard for the coming season.
Under 8 Falcons
One of our newest teams enjoyed a fantastic start to life as a team by lifting the ‘World Cup’ trophy at the Downhill Hub in Sunderland. The Falcons produced a strong and determined performance throughout the tournament, finishing second out of six teams in the group stage to secure their place in the knockout rounds. In a thrilling semi-final, the boys showed tremendous character to come from behind against a strong Blakelaw Milan side, battling back to snatch a dramatic 2-1 victory and book their place in the final. They saved one of their best performances for last, confidently overcoming Boro Rangers 2-0 in the final to be crowned tournament champions. Huge congratulations to Lincoln, Arthur, Vinny, Charlie, Koby-Lee, Archie, Chris and William.
Aycliffe Youth Seniors 11 v Wingate 0
First home game of the season, for our men in the Wearside League. They dominated the game from start to finish, after taking the lead after three minutes. The goals continued to flow as they out played their visitors with the defence and midfield being the foundation for the win. When Wingate did get through, there was no beating Brett Davison in goal. The scorers on the night were Charlie Walsh 4, Declan Scott 2, Cameron Copeland 2, Andrew Burrows 1, Josh Batey 1 and Mason Steed 1.
Development Sections
The start of our football pathways, currently, begin at four years old, with our Wildcats girls only session and Little Eagles boys only sessions. These thriving groups develop into teams, every season, to then play in the Russell Foster and TJFA leagues. After another successful season we have opportunities to join both our development sections for boys and girls aged four, just starting reception, aged five in Year 1, and aged six in Year 2. For more information, contact Berni on 07939 045242.
ANNOUNCEMENT
The demand from both boys and girls to join the football club is huge and the requests from younger boys and girls aged 3-4 years old, to start their footballing journey, has also grown.
The club are excited to announce that we will be starting ‘RISING STARS’ sessions very soon, aimed at these 3-4 year old children. There will be mixed sessions and the children will be coached in the fundamentals of football as they prepare to move through to our Wildcats and Little Eagles development programmes and then into our footballing pathways when they join a team.
