The recent cold weather has meant that no games have been played at the OakLeaf since mid December, but hoping we can restart as we head into January. Even central venues have had similar issues.
However, we are sad to report the passing of Brian Rose, a founder member of the football club and Honorary President. Brian along with Eddie Turner and joined by Joe Blackett set up our first team in 1989 and they competed in the Bishop Auckland Northern Echo League as an Under 13 Boys team. Brian became the first club secretary and set the foundations for the club to grow to where we are today.
Members of the club attended the Darlington Crematorium on 5th January, joined by players that played for that first team. Amongst the photos on display from Brain’s life, was the montage of photos of that first team. Many boys and girls have had the opportunity to play football in Newton Aycliffe because of the hard work put in by those early founders of the club and our thanks goes to all of them.
RIP Brian Rose, 1948-2025.
