Newton Aycliffe’s monthly Street Food Market has become a highlight of the summer, drawing crowds to the town centre for great food, entertainment, and family-friendly activities.

The markets have helped breathe new life into the town, creating a reason for the community to come together, and boosting footfall for local businesses.

The final two street food markets of the year promise extra excitement with special entertainment for all ages. On Friday 5 September, families can enjoy a round of free mini golf, perfect for some friendly competition. Then, on Friday 3 October, the market partners with the South West Durham Heritage Festival, bringing the region’s history and culture to life through a vibrant programme of free, family-friendly activities.

Michael Webstell, Producer Baccanalia, said “We’re proud to see how these events have helped bring people together and supported the local high street. Our focus is always on showcasing local food producers, businesses, and artists, while also providing free entertainment for families. We’re thrilled with the response so far and hope Newton Aycliffe continues to grow as a destination for outdoor markets.”

Building on last year’s success, the 2025 summer markets have once again delivered a winning mix of global street food vendors, performances, and free community activities — all designed to celebrate local businesses and provide a warm, welcoming space for the community.

Baccanalia extends a huge thanks to Aycliffe Town Centre for their ongoing support in making the street food markets possible. We are delighted to be part of their events programme, which over the summer has included outdoor cinema events and powerful campaigns such as the Knife Angel coming to town.
