Cup week and postponed games for many of our Youth Teams, however lots of great results from those that played.
Aycliffe U9 Eagles v Kader Athletic
The boys earned a well deserved win following a dominant display from start to finish. The first goal came from a corner that was deflected in for an own goal. The second goal was a good solo run and finish from Toby. Towards the end of the match, David scored his first league goal for the team. Well done boys.
Aycliffe U10 Wildcats v Jarrow Yellows
An excellent performance from the girls, limiting Jarrow to very few chances. However, a stunning free kick, and a mazy run from their winger and Aycliffe were 2-0 down at HT. A penalty for Aycliffe was saved by the keeper and the girls didn’t get the result they deserved.
Aycliffe U10 Eagles v Prissick Rovers
Thanks to weather, this was the lads 1st home game since well before Christmas & the boys were really up for it. With recent performances & the way the team has been playing & training, they went into the match with confidence really high and it showed. The boys recorded their highest ever victory and also maintained another clean sheet, they never looked threatened and could easily have scored more.
Marton Blues 5 v Aycliffe U11 Falcons 1
Tough away game for this cup tie against Marton who are a few divisions higher. Falcons battled hard and kept Marton out as long as they could. They then scored 2 in 2 minutes to take control. Zach nicked one back just before HT making it 1-4. Falcons kept their heads up and battled to the end. An unlucky OG in the 2nd half, final score 1-5.
POM: Opposition: Harry Latta / Coaches: Harry Myers.
Marton Girls 2 v Aycliffe U11 Girls 1
Really competitive match and the girls were unlucky not to get more out of the game.
POTM: Barber scoring a fantastic goal. Coaches POTM: Heddle.
Velocity FC Lions 0 v Under 12 Eagles (League Shield) 1
Quarter final action, against higher league opponents for the lads, who started the game very well, looking solid at the back through Ollie, Oliver C and Finley, who was a rock at the back and so strong in driving forward with the ball. Going forward the team got into some dangerous areas through Will, Noah, Alfie, Regan, Brad, Cohen and Teni. The whole game was a well fought contest from both sides. A first half penalty from Oliver S gave Aycliffe the lead, with the safe hands of Ethan keeping it, everyone played their part to see out the game and get themselves into the Semi Final.
Aycliffe U13 Eagles 5 v Bishop Auckland Kings (cup) 2
A fiercely contested first half finished 0-0 with both sides having chances – the Eagles began to gel in the second half with goals from Jayden Lee, Mo Krubally and a hat trick from Tarek Al Saleh, the final score 5-2 and a great win against 4th division opponents in the cup.
Aycliffe U14 Girls 0 v Washington Wildcats 3
A defeat today against a well structured opponent. We matched Washington for the first half and were unlucky with the timing of the first two goals, with one just before and one just after half time before a worldy giving them a deserved three points. Our keeper played well to keep the score down. POTM Gwynneth. Solid all game at left back against a team who liked to progress down the wings.
Aycliffe U15 Boys 5 v FC Hartlepool 2
A game of four halves. A slow start initially, a penalty conceded and converted. The lads grew into the game, equalising on 20 mins, before springing into life early in the second half – scoring three. The final quarter, we let Hartlepool back into the game but still had the final word, with a final goal at the death. Goals. Isaac, Charlie (2), Posi (2). Assists: Josh & James. POTMs: Posi & Josh.
