Zanshin-Kai Karate recently celebrated the clubs twenty fifth anniversary with a presentation of grading certificates to students in both classes who had successfully achieved their next belt, and a club photo session. The photo session was a chance to capture memories with students, instructors and families and also a chance to catch up and reminisce with former instructors and students who attended the session and all who played their own part in the club history, its growth and continuing success.
There was a lovely birthday cake, cupcakes, snacks and refreshments available to all and the chance to grab a photo with families, friends and club mates in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
The Club opened in 2000 by instructors Andy Dawson and Dave Noble and was briefly based at Woodham School before moving to nearby Woodham Community Centre where it’s remained for the majority of the twenty five years.
We would also like to thank Woodham Community Centre and, in particular, Centre Manager David Sutton Lloyd for all the assistance and support over these last twenty five years.
Hundreds of families, men, women and children, have trained with us throughout those 25 years with many going on to become black belts and instructors themselves, many stayed only for a short while, but all of them played a part in the history and growth of Zanshin-Kai Karate in County Durham
We also celebrated a second anniversary that evening, with it being the tenth anniversary of the opening of our Red Dragons Cadet class. Zanshin Kai Red Dragons serves as an introduction to karate for children aged between 5 & 10 years, created by Chief Instructor Dave Noble in 2015 it has been amazingly successful and is currently run by Senior Instructor Julie Nisbet.
The club caters for all ages and abilities from 5 years upwards and is proud to be a family club that promotes karate for fitness, discipline, confidence and self defence.
Our club has grown, progressed and been such a success, because of the dedication and commitment of all its instructors and students with the support of all their families and the friendships built within the training hall. Zanshin-Kai Karate are proud members of Cobra Martial Arts Association and all our senior instructors are DBS checked, first aid trained and have many years experience.
Our twenty fifth anniversary is not just a celebration of our past and our history, it is also a reflection of our club spirit and commitment to promoting and offering the chance to experience Karate and its benefits to all the people of Newton Aycliffe and the surrounding areas.
