REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY
SUNDAY 8th NOVEMBER
The Remembrance Day Parade will leave the Barnard Armoury at around 10.40am and head to St. Clare’s Church. There will be a short service, including the Last Post, Reveille and the two-minute silence at 11am. Wreaths will then be laid before a service inside the church.
Afterwards, everyone taking part in the Parade will gather outside the church and march along Stephenson Way for the Salute and March Past. The Parade will finish in the Barnard Armoury yard. Please note that some roads and car parks will be closed during the event.

AYCLIFFE VILLAGE REMEMBRANCE
SUNDAY SERVICE
A service for Remembrance will be taking place at St. Andrew’s Church in Aycliffe Village on Sunday 8th November, starting at 3pm.
During the service, everyone will walk to the war memorial in the church grounds, where wreaths will be laid, please make sure to wear appropriate footwear for this location.

ARMISTICE DAY
WEDNESDAY 11th NOVEMBER
Everyone is welcome to take part in a short blessing in Newton Aycliffe Town Centre, where the two-minute silence will be observed at 11am.
If you would like to come along, please meet near the Town Clock in the Town Centre area on Beveridge Way from 10.50am on Wednesday 11th November.

FLAG AND LAMPLIGHT OF PEACE
Great Aycliffe Town Council will also fly ‘The Flag of Peace throughout Nations’ and light the Lamp Light of Peace. Its light represents light emerging from the darkness of war and gives everyone a chance to pause, remember and hope for peace around the world.

 

Road Closures

REMEMBRANCE DAY PARADE NEWTON AYCLIFFE
SUNDAY 8th NOVEMBER 2026
For the safety of everyone attending the parade, the following roads will be closed to all vehicles for the Annual Remembrance Day Parade between approximately 10.30am and 12.30pm: Greenwell Road, Macmillan Road, Stephenson Way and St. Cuthbert’s Way.

CAR PARK CLOSURES – REMEMBRANCE DAY PARADE

The following car parks will be closed from 6am to 12.30pm:
The Phoenix Club – Car Park to the rear of the club. Greenwell Road / Macmillan Road – Car Park opposite the Phoenix Club. Stephenson Way – Car Park outside the Leisure Centre entrance. Bewick Crescent – Car Park opposite the surgery. Rear of the Thames Centre Arcade off Stephenson Way.
