During the month of September, we have enjoyed trips to The History Wardrobe, featuring the fashion revolution, which was very interesting and, in part, quite amusing, there has been a trip to Saltburn taking advantage of the local train journey. The Saltburn tram is now in working order and the Sea View Restaurant served excellent fish and chips. Also in September, one of our members completed the Great North Run, raising additional funds from our WI for Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group.
For our October Tuesday evening meeting, we will be celebrating our group’s birthday with tasty treats, games, bingo and quizzes. Our WI members also have the opportunity to join in all the events arranged at WI house, including cupcake decorating for Halloween on 29th of October and there are monthly meet ups including a Crochet Group on the 2nd Tuesday of the month and Saturday Stitchers on the 2nd Saturday of the month.
We are now making our plans for celebrating the countdown to Christmas, including visiting local Christmas markets and Christmas lunch.
We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm in the Methodist Church at Neville Parade. We have speakers on various topics, craft evenings, auctions and parties.
There is no need to be lonely as a WI member. Come and join our friendly and hospitable Newton Aycliffe WI. All women are welcome and you will have the opportunity to attend trips, learn new crafts and make new friends.
