Sunday 14th December 2025
Newton Aycliffe Methodist Church would like to give an open invitation to celebrate the anniversary of 70 years of Methodists at Neville Parade when the first church on the current site was opened on 10th December 1955. We are planning a ‘Songs of Praise’ at 2.30pm followed by refreshments.
The current ‘lounge’ at Newton Aycliffe Methodist Church, also previously known as the small hall, was the first of three Methodist ‘churches’ built on the Neville Parade site after moving from Simpasture, followed by the building of the large hall and then the newer church part (with the curved wall).
For reference, the Neville Parade shops, former Oak Tree pub and Bury Road flats had already been built and some houses in the surrounding streets starting to be built.
During the refreshments after the ‘Songs of Praise’ service we hope to share photos showing memories of events in the church/small hall/lounge and hope you can come along and join in.
Current trustees of the church would like to give an open invitation to everyone, but ask, for catering purposes if you could let us know by either emailing:

telephone 01325 319098, or see any of the stewards on Sundays (services at 11am and everyone is welcome).
