The Great Aycliffe & Middridge Partnership Area Action Partnership (AAP) board will be meeting on Tuesday 18 March 2025, between 6pm and 7pm at Woodham Community Centre, and members of the public are invited to observe proceedings.

This will be the final meeting of Great Aycliffe & Middridge Partnership in its current form.  Durham County Council’s Area Action Partnerships (AAPs) will be transitioning to a new ‘Local Network’ model from April 2025.  Area Action Partnerships have been Durham County Council’s main vehicle used to engage with the public and local partners as part of their community engagement function.  Following agreement by Council’s Cabinet in March 2022, an independent review of the council’s community engagement function was undertaken i.e. primarily the work of the AAPs. The consultant’s recommendations from this Community Engagement Review (CER) were the subject of a countywide consultation exercise in April 2023.  In July 2023, Cabinet agreed a new Local Network (LN) model to replace the existing AAP structure. The new model of a reduced number of twelve LNs (rather than the current 14 AAPs) will have a renewed focus on community development and enhancing the capacity of local communities and individuals to become more involved in improving their area.

So, from April 2025 onwards there will be some changes to the existing Great Aycliffe & Middridge Partnership as we make the transition to becoming a Local Network, and further information on this will be provided during the meeting.

Anyone who would like to attend the meeting should register in advance by emailing gampaap@durham.gov.uk.
