Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group (Charity No. 1188444) continues to provide essential support to cancer patients and their families throughout their treatment and ongoing journeys. Services include free hospital transport, respite breaks, welfare support, and a range of additional practical assistance.
In recent months, the charity has seen a significant increase in patient and member numbers, largely due to earlier cancer diagnoses. While this is a positive development, it has placed considerable strain on resources. Transport demand, in particular, has risen sharply, with monthly costs increasing from approximately £400 to over £6,000, even before recent fuel price rises.
To help meet this growing need, the charity is hosting a fundraising comedy night, accompanied by a grand raffle, to raise vital funds.
The evening will feature entertainment from comedian, actor and radio host Steffen Peddie, who will serve as ‘Games Master’, alongside close-up magic from local magician Darren Bonas (Mr Twister).

Tickets are priced at £10 each, which includes a complimentary bingo ticket (18+ only).
Raffle tickets are also available at the same outlets for £2 per strip. Prizes include tattoo vouchers, Wetherspoons gift cards, massage treatments, beauty products and sweet hampers, among others.
Local businesses wishing to donate prizes are encouraged to contact the organisers.
All proceeds will go directly towards supporting cancer patients in Newton Aycliffe and surrounding areas.
