Dear Sir,
My granddaughter attends Byerley Park Primary School in Newton Aycliffe.
Unfortunately, there are no safe places to cross and cars park so closely together it makes it even harder to cross safely.
Recently, my daughter’s toddler fell in the middle of the road. My five year old granddaughter is autistic and continued to cross. A grey car came speeding up the road outside of Byerley Park school where hundreds of children were trying to cross.
It almost hit my grandchild, if it wasn’t for the quick thinking of another parent, she would be dead.
After working in schools myself for 22 years, I cannot believe there is nowhere safe for these young children and families to cross.
I am urging you to please put a crossing guard or crossing in place. The police have been informed as this isn’t the first near miss.
This is a massive safeguarding concern and our children are being let down.
