If this sounds like something you are interested in, then we encourage you to apply to become a Town Councillor.
Great Aycliffe Town Council is currently looking for a councillor for the vacant seat in the Woodham Ward of the Parish.
The vacancy is currently being advertised via a formal Notice of Co-Option on the Council website, social media platforms and notice boards throughout the Town.
The Town Council welcome applications from any interested and enthusiastic members of the public, of all backgrounds and experiences, who wish to be part of the varied work that the Town Council is involved with and help to drive the community forward.
By becoming a Councillor, you will represent the views of the people of the Parish and help shape the community by bringing new ideas forward and into fruition.
The closing date for applications is midnight on Friday 22nd May 2026.
Candidates will be invited to the Meeting of the Council on 10th June, where they can introduce themselves, give information on their background and experience and why they wish to become a member of the Council. The successful candidate will be selected at this meeting.
Please note that co-opted members are not eligible to claim the Basic Members’ Allowance.
