As we head towards the end of June, several of our teams have completed their season, whilst others have everything to play for.
Birtley Town 0 v Aycliffe U12 Girls 6
Penultimate game of the season for the girls. From the kick off Aycliffe dominated the game and showed some great team play. Passing was on point but, also, they played with passion showing their love for the game. HT 3-0 the challenge was to keep the clean sheet and try to double the lead. They did just that. A great game and next weekend we can have a celebration after a fantastic season and hopefully finish on a high.
Goals Demi Lee x3 Ruby Freya & OG.
POTM was Demi Lee.
Aycliffe U10 Eagles v Eaglescliffe
Final game of the season, what a way to end an already outstanding season.
Riley opened the scoring with a quality finish that looped across the goal into the top corner. The boys in blue continued attacking and were dominating the game. The second goal came from own goal, HT 2-0. The second half was a bit more difficult as Eaglescliffe attacked well so the defence and midfield were working really hard to clear their lines. Aiden got his name on the score sheet with a wonderful run and finish from midfield. Eaglescliffe managed to get a goal back with a penalty but The Eagles weren’t letting the lead go easily and Krystian managed to secure the win with a great goal. MOTM went to Evan. Well done Evan and to all the boys, not only for today but for an excellent season, you should be very proud of yourselves.
Washington Utd Lionesses v Aycliffe U11 Angels Blue
An outstanding game between two closely matched teams ended in a draw, which was probably a fair reflection of the game, despite a controversial late equaliser from Washington. The girls were fantastic throughout and did everyone proud.
Star-Players Choice: Heidi.
Coaches choice: Faith.
Aycliffe U12’s Eagles 1 v Deerness Valley Lightning 3.
This was always going to be a tough game as Deerness are a very strong side and are 3rd in the league. Deerness went a goal up within the first few minutes of the game, despite the best efforts of our defence. The boys weren’t playing to the best of their ability and Deerness took advantage and managed to score again. Chasing the game, again we encouraged the boys to keep playing, Adam drove down the left, skipped past 2 players and played a great ball into the box where Hamza was waiting and calmly placed it past the keeper, HT 1-2. Second half was more even, however Deerness were passing the ball well and scored again with a powerful shot and secured the 3pts. MOTM Zac.
