The Eden Arms Hotel, located at Rushyford, DL17 0LL, has long been a cherished landmark in County Durham. Originally established as a 17th-century coaching inn, the hotel has witnessed centuries of history, including hosting The Beatles in 1963.
There is a vision of restoration and renewal, after facing the threat of demolition in recent years, the tide has turned for this beloved hotel. The Eden Arms is now under new management, and they are thrilled to announce that the hotel is open for guests once again. With several rooms available, visitors can experience the charm and history of this iconic venue.
Looking ahead, the new owners have ambitious plans for The Eden Arms as they aim to restore and modernise the hotel while preserving its historical essence. Currently, the swimming pool, spa, and gym area, are being restored and several teams are diligently working on these facilities. Although the original plan was to open by the new year, there have been delays due to the holiday season and the work load. However, they are optimistic that this section of the hotel will be ready by the end of this month.
Once completed, these facilities will be available to the public with memberships and day passes and, free memberships for individuals over 65.
Extended projects for the other parts of this building include plans to open a large lounge in the first hall of the building which used to be the bar area. The other hall, attached to the kitchen, will be kept as a restaurant.
We are currently looking for potential chefs, or any other parties, to take on the kitchen, restaurant, cellar and marriage hall.
