Our June meeting was a craft social evening, painting small pebbles, which everyone enjoyed. There has been an excursion to Helmsley which included plenty of opportunity for shopping, visiting local cafés and Beadlam Grange Farm shop. On Monday 15th, some of our members took advantage of the dry, warmer weather and walked to the Locomotion in Shildon for a well-earned coffee.
Our next WI meeting is on 14th July and we will be learning about historical costume making in ‘Cutting it Fine’. The July excursion will be to Hawes Creamery.
August will see us attending Shildon Fair with a bake and sandwich table and the 21st of August is the ever popular Sweet Delights evening, which will be held at Neville Parade Community Centre.
In September, one of our members will be running the Great North Run, raising funds for Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group, our charity of 2026.
As a WI member, you can have access to the events catalogue from WI House, including early evening walks, coffee mornings, cookery demonstrations, lunches, ladies days and coach trips, all at reasonable prices to suit your budgets.
We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm in the Methodist Church at Nevilles Parade. We have speakers on varied topics, craft evenings, auctions and parties.
There is no need to be lonely as a WI member. Come and join our friendly and welcoming Newton Aycliffe WI. All women are welcome
