The Great North Air Ambulance Service’s (GNAAS) critical care team was activated to 12 incidents (including stand downs) over the weekend from Saturday 28 March to Sunday 29 March.

They responded to eight incidents in the North East, three incidents in Cumbria and one incident in North Lincolnshire.

These incidents included six cardiac arrests, two road traffic collisions, two falls, and two self harm incidents.

GNAAS have launched an appeal called Operation SOS: Secure Our Service and need to raise £2.5 million to secure the deposit for a third new helicopter. Find out more on their website: gna.as/secure_our_service

Here are statements for some of the incidents GNAAS’ team attended over the last two days:

 

Teesside Autodrome

On Saturday our critical care team was activated at 12.30pm to a medical incident at Teesside Autodrome.

We had a doctor and two paramedics on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene within minutes.

Our team worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to assess and treat a patient.

The patient was taken to hospital by a NEAS road crew, accompanied by our team.

 

Norton

On Sunday our critical care team was activated at 8.51am to reports of a medical incident in Norton.

We had a paramedic and doctor on a rapid response vehicle and they arrived on scene at 9.02am.

Our team worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to assess and treat a patient.

The patient was taken to hospital by a NEAS road crew, accompanied by our team.

 

Hurworth-on-Tees

On Sunday our critical care team was activated at 5.28pm to reports of a medical incident in Hurworth-on-Tees.

We had a paramedic and doctor on a rapid response vehicle and they arrived on scene at 5.38pm.

Our team worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to assess and treat a patient.

The patient was taken to hospital by a NEAS road crew, accompanied by our team.
