UTC South Durham has kicked off an exciting new cycle of its Industry Projects programme, with Year 10 students beginning work alongside a range of respected local employers.
This year’s participating organisations include Tekmar, Meldrum Construction, Locomotion, Dellner Glass, Great Aycliffe Council and Aycliffe Fabrication. Over the next twelve weeks, students will work in teams to tackle real-world business and engineering challenges set by these industry partners.
The programme-core to UTC South Durham’s mission to connect education with the world of work – offers students a hands-on opportunity to develop practical skills, problem-solving ability and professional confidence. By engaging with genuine industry briefs, students gain invaluable experience that strengthens both their technical knowledge and their CVs as they prepare for future careers or apprenticeships.
Industry partners will work closely with each student team, offering guidance, feedback and insight into how professional solutions are developed in their sectors.
UTC South Durham wishes all Year 10 teams an inspiring and successful project cycle and extends its thanks to all partner organisations for their continued support in shaping the next generation of engineers, problem solvers and innovators.
