Great Aycliffe Town Council officially recognised the winners of this years Community Enhancement Garden competition last week. The winners in the three categories each received their trophy and certificate from the Mayor of Great Aycliffe.
The overall garden winner was Mrs and Mr Stayman from Burghley Mews. Their garden has been immaculate and appreciated by all their neighbours and visitors throughout the summer, with an excellent show still available into October.
The best Community garden was awarded to the residents of a street of bungalows at St Andrews Close, Aycliffe Village. They have worked together, planting pots and hanging baskets along the front of their properties. The combined effect was a sea of colour for much of the summer.
Finally, the best hanging basket/ flower tub display was awarded to a property in Marshal Road. Judges thought the garden stood out as it was dotted with various garden ornaments, painted fences and flower baskets on every available space. The effect created a bright characterful garden that made many people smile as they walked by.
Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to those who nominated them.
