Residents in County Durham can have their say on a new framework which will determine future developments and planning applications in the county.
Durham County Council is reviewing the County Durham Plan (CDP) to update it from when it was last refreshed in 2020.
Reviewed regularly, the CDP plays a key role in the planning system and sets out a framework for any future development in the county.
As part of work to develop the new CDP, the council has launched a call for landowners, developers, partners and members of the public to put forward sites they believe are suitable for future development.
This could include sites for housing, infrastructure, community facilities, renewable energy infrastructure, and land for employment or biodiversity enhancement.
The new County Durham Plan will be in line with national policy as well as the Spatial Development Strategy for the North East. The council will also follow the government’s Duty to Co-operate, which requires local planning authorities and other public bodies to work together on strategic planning matters that cross administrative boundaries.
Partners and members of the public have until 15th August to suggest potential development sites. People can take part in the consultation at: www.letstalkcountydurham.co.uk
