South Durham U3A is a branch of the national U3A movement (University of the 3rd Age) and is based in Cockerton and this year marks it’s 25th anniversary. Since it’s inception, the branch has gone from strength to strength and currently has 230 members and offer a wide range of groups and activities as well as arranging a number of trips each year.
To celebrate this milestone, we are organising a number of events – the first was a cream tea held at the Glass House Restaurant last month and served by students of Darlington College, a fish and chip lunch in July in Cockerton Club, an outdoor picnic and the planting of two silver birch with plaque at Elm Ridge Methodist Church in August and a cake decorating session in October.
