Morrisons Convenience Store in Washington Crescent is due to close on 26th September, losing seven local jobs. We, the local residents, are very concerned that if a company like Morrisons cannot afford the increase in the lease, that no other retailer will take it on, losing both the Store and Post Office, which is open from 7.00am to 10.00pm and used by some local businesses for their banking.
This store is a lifeline for many of our residents who, not only rely on it for essentials, but like to see a friendly face and have a chat. Also for those residents who will find it difficult to get to the town centre.
We have contacted our local councillors to see if there is anything they can do to help and they have promised to keep us updated.
Jackie and Glyn Edwards.
