The first ‘Inter City’ Railway in the world.
by Michael Roff.
Michael will tell the story of the intrigue, the personalities, delays and tribulations of the launching of this railway project.
How the ‘Rainhill Trials’ determined the power source and how that outcome was ‘fiddled’ by the Stephensons which then led to the combined tragi/comedy of the Grand Opening, in 1830, ultimately leading to the success of the project and the beginning of the Railway Age. £3 admission including refreshments, all welcome.
