St. Thomas R.C. Church on Byerley Road in Shildon is to host a railway themed flower festival to mark the 200th anniversary of the railway. Churches from across the town, together with Shildon & District Flower Club and Forget Me Not Florists, are working hard on the project.
There will be a preview evening on Thursday 4th September at 7.00pm where there will be a short service of welcome led by Fr. Cornforth, followed by the opportunity to view the displays.
Entry is free, but donations, in lieu of refreshments, will be shared between the Teesdale & Weardale Search & Rescue Team and the South Cleveland Heart Fund. The church will also be open on Friday 5th September between 10.00am and 3.00pm for viewing with light refreshments served.
