A popular Antiques Roadshow star will be bringing their expertise to County Durham this autumn.
Durham County Council will be welcoming renowned medals and militaria specialist, Mark Smith, to Bishop Auckland Town Hall.
Considered one of Antiques Roadshow’s most popular experts, Mark will present For Valour: The Story of the Victoria Cross.
Audiences will get the chance to delve into the origins of this prestigious award, dispel myths, and hear extraordinary stories of the brave men who have received Britain’s highest military honour.
A limited number of VIP tickets are also available which will include an exclusive meet and greet with Mark plus the opportunity to bring along medals or militaria for a personal description and valuation.
Lizzie Glazier, Durham County Council’s culture venues and programme manager, said: “We are very excited to welcome Mark Smith to Bishop Auckland Town Hall. As one of the leading authorities on medals and militaria, Mark’s presentation will be a fascinating evening for collectors, history lovers and Antiques Roadshow fans alike.
“This event offers a rare chance to experience Mark’s expertise and storytelling live on stage. There will also be the chance for some audience members to get the real Antiques Roadshow experience and have their items appraised by Mark first-hand.”
Audiences can see Mark Smith at Bishop Auckland Town Hall on Friday 9 October at 7.30pm.
