Four-legged friends and their humans are invited to enjoy a paw-some day out at Bark in the Park this September.

The popular dog show event, hosted by Raby Castle, Park and Gardens, is returning on Sunday 27th September, from 10am to 4pm.

Set against the beautiful backdrop of Raby Castle, the annual celebration of canine companions promises a fun-filled day out for dogs and their owners alike. It’s one of the best dog-friendly events in the North of England, and early bird tickets are available now at discounted prices when booked online in advance.

There’s plenty to keep tails wagging throughout the day, including the much-loved Fun Dog Show, where owners can enter their pups on the day in a range of humorous categories, including ‘Most Like Their Owner’ and ‘Coolest Canine’.

Dog lovers can also join interactive, hands-on sessions with dog training experts, picking up top tips and tricks and giving them a try under the guidance of professionals, then pay a visit to Pawtrait Art Studio, a pet portrait artist who specialises in live illustrations and hand-painted art of beloved pets, to create a special keepsake from the day.

For anyone who loves to see dogs in action, there are canine hoopers and Good Citizen demonstrations by the Newton Aycliffe Dog Training Club, and Nordic Dogs is running gundog scurries, hurdles and a lure.

There are also plenty of opportunities to treat all four-legged friends, with a carefully hand-picked selection of traders offering gourmet dog treats, toys, leads and the best in rugged outdoor gear – essential for the colder months ahead. Visitors can browse the stalls, chat to expert traders and even get a head start on finding the paw-fect Christmas gift for their canine companions.

Tickets to Bark in the Park include free access to Raby’s dog-friendly Deer Park and five-acre Walled Gardens*, giving visitors the chance to explore the beautiful grounds and enjoy a scenic dog walk with stunning views of the castle.

Sophie Brown, sales and events manager at Raby Castle, Park and Gardens said: “We can’t wait to welcome new and returning four-legged pals to Raby this autumn for our popular dog show event.

“It’s the perfect opportunity to pick up a few treats, test out some new skills and enjoy a fun-filled day out in the great outdoors alongside other dog lovers.”
