Waldrdge Park 1 – 2 Newton Aycliffe Youth U10’s

Sporting their new strip courtesy of Scott Garner, John Knight and David Tongue of DBS Fabrication. Great to see local companies supporting grass roots football. The boys didn’t let them down today despite going a goal down they battled hard and earned a well fought 2-1 win with goals from Alex Bellwood and Will Houlahan. Man of the match this week Isaac Clennell who looked back to his normal self with a very composed performance in the middle of the defence.

Golden Flatts 3-1 Newton Aycliffe Youth Under 15’s Falcons

Big game yesterday where 1st played 2nd at top of the table made more difficult with a home team parent as first half Ref as official didn’t show. Flatts started the stronger and found themselves a goal up early that put us on the back foot and whilst we had good periods of play GF wanted it more than we did, also had a fortuitous cross find the net and found themselves 3-0 up at HT.

We regrouped and made some changes and came out fighting with Cole Harrison winning and scoring a penalty. Jack Birbeck hit the underside of the bar with a rocket shot but luck wasn’t with us – game changing moment. We continued to dominate the second half and were the better team but couldn’t convert our chances.

Definitely a game of 2 halves however we need to start with the same passion and intensity as we finish or we will get punished early on. No major complaints at the result.

Good performances from several but a few lazy ones from others stood out. Well done Spencer O’Sullivan Joe Armstrong James Imiela and Cole Harrison for 100% effort but Man of the Match went to Luke Robinson for a good performance on both sides of the pitch, creativity, effort and good attitude. A lot of positives and areas of improvement taken from the game as we look to continue our rapid development.

Newton Aycliffe Youth U14’s Eagles 2 – 2 Kader Athletic

The Eagles welcomed second in the league Kader to the Oakleaf today. In a game of two halves, the Eagles started brightly. Playing some really good football and everyone working for each other. Aycliffe took the lead deservedly through a right foot shot from Jake Goad. Kader did look dangerous but the defence and goalkeeper for Aycliffe were standing firm. Before half time, Adam Lowe scored a screamer right into the roof of the net from a tight angle. This was outstanding football. Half time came when the Eagles were really on top.

Second half, Kader started with a point to prove and a fire in their belly. They had chance after chance but again our defence and goalkeeper were working really hard and also at times having a little bit of luck. Aycliffe has to chance personnel constantly throughout the game through injury and tactics. Kader finally took one of their chances and this was now game on! 2-1. Aycliffe battles to keep their lead but were unlucky to concede a equaliser with 10 minutes to go. Thankfully Aycliffe held on right to the end and even had a couple of chances themselves to clinch the winner but it wasn’t to be. Final score 2-2. Man of the match went to Jamie Cockfield and Dylan Bowater.

Newton Aycliffe Youth Under 16’s Girls 3 – 1 Leam Rangers

Good win from the amazing Aycliffe girls today. They made a huge amount of accurate passes which led on to outstanding results. Each player played their full today despite the wind making it hard to determine the direction of the ball, they played as a team which got Aycliffe up the pitch.

At half time Aycliffe had a 1-0 advantage thanks to Lottie, however we now had the wind against us. This did not change the girls determination and allowed Katie B to bag two more goals! The team kept their heads and the score till the last minute. Unfortunately from a corner, Leam Rangers scored with 30 seconds left. As the whistle blew the girls walked off with their heads high from a well-deserved win.
