U13’s Eagles 4 – 2 U13’s Falcons Sunday morning saw the first ever competitive league fixture between both teams. The game promised to be a close affair and it didn’t disappoint. With the Falcons flying high, the Eagles knew it would be a tough game, and it was. The Eagles took the lead through a fantastic strike from outside the box that lobbed over the reaching Falcons keeper. Aaron Ross was the scorer. The Eagles continued to look dangerous but the Falcons were also growing into the game. They passed the ball down the right flank and whipped in good cross that was tucked away. 1-1. That’s how the score stayed till half time. Second half saw the Falcons come out strongly and played some very good football. This was rewarded with a nice finish from one of the league’s top marksmen Sam Peat, 2-1 to the Falcons. The Eagles heads looked like they had gone down so the coaches asked them to show them what they were made of. They had done so well and now wasn’t the time to throw all that effort away. The lads didn’t disappoint. They pushed forward and created chance after chance. Jake Fleming latched onto a through ball and with his lightening pace; he managed to tuck the ball past the Falcons keeper. Game on! The Falcons hit the bar and had one or two other chances before the referee ruled out an Eagles goal for offside which was probably the right decision. A few minutes later, the Eagles were awarded a penalty for hand ball. Up stepped Aaron Ross to smash the ball into the roof of the net. 3-2 to the Eagles. Following a few changes, the Eagles substitutes looked hungry and ready to get into the action. Reece Dawson Brown showed unbelievable strength to hold off 2 Falcons and coolly finish making the final score 4-2 to the Eagles! What a game to watch and the main winner today was the football club. Difficult to pick a man of the match today but for the Eagles it went to Dylan Bowater for his midfield performance, and for the Falcons their man of the match went to Lewis for his craft and composure in the last third. U14 Eagles 3-3 Hartlepool Warriors. Today we asked for the continuing improvement that the lads had been showing. It wasn’t fully there in the first half resulting in Hartlepool taking a 1 goal lead at half time. Talk was brief just try harder and the game would be theirs. The Eagles had listened and scored three goals to lead 3-1! Then the unthinkable happened and with 20ish minutes to go, the Eagles pressed the panic button and somehow looked like losing a game they were comfortable in. 2 good goals by Hartlepool had Aycliffe scrapping for a point, but they got it. First point of the season, so again an improvement. Goals Jake x 2, Tyler x 1. MOM was Jay. U14 Falcons 5-1 Great Ayton In a reversed fixture the Falcons played outstanding TEAM football which involved ever single member of the squad, played to tactics and selections that saw them bag another 3 points. The Falcons battled through an even and competitive first half that saw both sides level at 1-1. At HT, Aycliffe spoke about their tactics and how they needed to pressure and close down more to win more possession and create opportunities to score. The lads didn’t let the coach down and each and every Falcon gave 100% and delivered everything  asked for with Captain Spencer O’Sullivan leading by example with a bullet header and a Man of the Match  performance, possibly the best ever in a Falcons shirt. Goals: Adam Askew x 3, Jack Birbeck x 1, and Spencer O’Sullivan x 1.  A massive thanks to Sam Pascoe for refereeing at short notice and to everyone involved in a memorable victory. This victory has now moved the Falcons top of the league!
