As the nights are starting to get darker and the weather seems to have become wetter and colder, this can only mean one thing….the start of the football season is upon us. Most of our teams were in action over the weekend in either the TJFA or the Russell Foster leagues. Under 8 Eagles NAYFC Eagles 3 – 2 Seaham Coast Following a tough previous weekend, the Eagles came out fast – linking up really well. The Eagles quickly took the lead, adding another before half time thanks to come slick passing. After the break another goal made it 3 nil from a corner. But the game was far from over, with the opposition have 4 subs available and none of our own, there fresh legs started to turn the tide. Quickly getting one back from a free kick to make it 3-1, with 5 minutes to go another well taken shot made it 3-2. Under the pressure though the boys relaxed, defended well and saw out the remainder of the match to win.

Under 8’s Falcons 15 – 2 Ferryhill Town The Falcons had their first fixture in the maiden season in the TJFA. Excited but nervous beforehand, the boys soon settled after a tentative start. Racking up several goals. With the game safe, after 10 minutes, substitutions were made, the valiant Ferryhill got one back, before the boys got into their swing again, Ferryhill scored a well taken penalty to make it 8-2 going into the break. The game resumed with further changes, whilst Ferryhill put up a great fight, the boys linked up really well to score a further 7, seeing the game out comfortably.  Under 9’s Girls 2 – 5 Hartlepool Whites Proud of the girls today and how far they have come. From back to front each and every one of them worked their socks off. The girls were told to take every opportunity at goal they got today and they did just that, trying so hard but their defence were solid. Some great play but lots to work on in training too. Best of all they tried and gave 100%. Freya scored a cracking goal just before half time from near the half way line and the girls went 3-1 down at half time.

The second half saw Aycliffe come out with lots of passion and as the game went on their pressing became so much better. They scored a good goal just before full time making the final score 2-5 to Hartlepool. The Aycliffe girls were unlucky today as they hit the post a few times and were also unlucky with other chances, the effort given was fantastic.
