Working with the charity Groundwork “Young People’s Voices” at Silverdale Community Centre first put together an Action Plan and brainstormed different ideas of what they could do for their community whilst having fun.
Some of the ideas they came up with were: Creating a place for people to go to who take drugs who want help, raising money for charity, a quiet garden with flowers for elderly people, a better place for children, bullying mentors, making bird boxes. These were just a handful of many ideas they came up with.
The young people all agreed that they would like to raise money for charity and they decided as Children In Need is coming up that they would donate any money raised for that cause. As Halloween was upon us the young people thought it would be a good idea to do a Halloween Cake Sale at the Centre and show off their baking skills making cakes, biscuits and brownies. They invited family and friends to come along, donate and enjoy their creations. Some of the young people designed posters to promote the cake sale to the community and hoped many would come and enjoy a cuppa and a cake!
