The Greenfield Summer League came to a close on Tuesday night with Young Boys claiming top spot after a 3-1 victory over CFC with goals from Smith, Wing and Farley.
Having played 22 games over the season, it came down to the final after Aycliffe FC defeated Young Boys in the penultimate week 1-0 leaving only two points between first and second. Aycliffe FC were beaten 2-0 by the Huntsman on the final night which then handed the title to Young Boys having played earlier in the night.
Young Boys played consistently well every week by winning 16 of their 22 games with only two losses, the Young Boys squad: Jack Slatcher, Ryan Farley, Joe Young, Tom Young, Adam Smith, Liam Collier and Lewis Wing.
Organiser Michael Rippon spoke about another successful season: “The league is exciting, as anyone can beat anyone.” He also congratulated Young Boys on their triumph: “Credit to Young Boys, they only conceded 10 goals all season which made them a tough side to beat and they took their chances well every week.”
