In response to the concerns of residents, Agnew PACT recently made speeding on Burnhill Way a ‘PACT priority’, and police have started to monitor the road.
Earlier this week, County Councillors John D Clare, Mike Dixon and Joan Gray attended a speedwatch with PCSO 7564 Hutchinson. They were shown how to operate the speed gun – which actually provides sufficient evidence to issue a fine.
This speedwatch, however, was not designed to catch and fine. Signs were erected warning motorists, and a mobile speed matrix informed drivers of the speed they were doing. The function of a speedwatch like this is to warn people that the road is being monitored and thereby secure a general reduction in road speeds. Other roads being monitored in the area are Woodham Way and Rope Moor Way.
